There’s an issue that’s been raised to my attention lately.
No, we don’t have any of the JAN22-bans. Hyozan doesn’t do that kind of endgame stuff at all. So we’re still complete and together and rockin’ like a hurricane!
What I want to address is the podcast I do with Sooraya, “HE SAYS, SHE SAYS”. Thanks to this podcast, we’ve been able to advertise Hyozan and Hades (when we really didn’t have to), as well as welcome many new people into our LS after transferring to the server. But here’s the thing. Hyozan is NOT the official HS/SS linkshell. Most of the transfers that came to Hades through HS/SS were actually looking for a new Linkshell, for (hopefully) a better environment than the ones they’d been in. Some came over because they already knew us and created a mule or a new character to play with us casually and sometimes progressing nicely, even if they were just testing the waters. For others, the Hyozan members became new friends.
Here’s an example from my post in the forums: Limit Break Radio. While popular with a large fanbase, I know that the hosts are actually active in their own non-LBR linkshells. Personally, I don’t want or even have time for a HS/SS linkshell because I love Hyozan and as its leader, I can’t really afford to stay away from it. Perhaps it was my error in advertising it like crazy on the show. But that was only because I wanted to let the fellow server players know that Hyozan is open to anyone who is looking for an eventful and friendly linkshell.
Although I can be quite an ass at times
!
Hyozan existed before HS/SS. Way before me and Sooraya were even on Hades. We were doing events and parties with them long before people had even heard of my songs and parodies on LBR. In its latest incarnation under my wing, The Hyozan Legacy, it is first and foremost a place for players to do in-game stuff with. I try to follow through with this concept out of respect of the original founders. There are plenty of LS members who don’t really care about the podcast. They consider HS/SS as something Soo and I do in our spare time. As it should be. There’s a freedom for the members to be wherever they want to be and we don’t expect anything from them. But if you do decide to hang out on the forums and the vent server, which serve the purpose of a communication tool for the actual LS members, I only ask of you to follow through with your ambition to participate in the many group events we do, and not just hang out on a level 1 character just to talk to me and Sooraya. It’s not fair to the rest.
I find the most fun to be in doing things with the members, which usually can only be done if they actually have a character that can survive a couple of hits. So do the other members.
When Sooraya and I are in-game, in the linkshell, we’re players. Not hosts of a fun podcast, not web-celebs, just two adventurers trying to having fun with their friends in FFXI. Just because we’re FFXI nerds outside of the game as well doesn’t mean we need to do everything relating to the show in-game too. The podcast is a nice extra feature that Hyozan, but Soo and I are really the only affiliation it has with the LS. Honestly, if you want to socialize with me and Sooraya, try the HS/SS forums.
I really appreciate the support for HS/SS, but please keep the HS/SS related chatter out of Hyozan. In the forums and the vent server, it’s about really only the game and the people, our friends, residing in the linkshell.
Thanks.
